Old Railway Station
Great tidying work has been done over the last few weeks by 2 lads on the environs of the old Railway Station at the Ballina road junction in Tubbercurry. The work has been carried out under the auspices of the Tubbercurry Tidy Towns Committee and a big thank you is extended to all involved. Hopefully a lot more tidying and upgrading will be required in the near future if the proposed Greenway is given the go ahead. To this end, we need Sligo Co. Council and the Railway authorities to come together to give their approval. When we see an old similar type disused rail line in Co. Waterford opened recently as a walking/cycling Greenway, one wonders why it cannot also happen here in Co. Sligo. Over to you please, Sligo Co. Council…..

Easter Themed Workshop:
This workshop takes place on Wednesday, 12th of April from 11.00am to 2.00pm
in Corsallagh/Cloonacool. A morning full of activities is guaranteed. During the workshop, we will take a walk through the awaking nature of a rural country side. Engage with farm animals, pick wild herbs and wild material. Enjoy a healthy lunch, colour eggs and arrange an Easter themed arrangement. You will take away with you lots of ideas, your own coloured eggs, Easter baking ideas and most of all your own Easter arrangement. Limited places available.  For booking and more information call Martina, 087-2403005.

Speed on the Tubbercurry By-Pass

Concern has been expressed from many quarters about speeding traffic on the town by-pass which has a 50km limit. Tubbercurry Active Retirement Association recently wrote to Sligo Co. Council with over 50 signatures from their members about this. It is expected monitoring and signage will be erected shortly to slow traffic.

Mountain Road
Great work is on-going at Mountain Road, Tubbercurry where 2 different projects are under construction. The children’s playground is having a major overhaul done and will hopefully be opened within a few weeks. A new all-weather Astro-Turf play area is being laid at present beside the Real Tubber Soccer Pitch, and this will accommodate various activities including soccer and basketball. It is being done in such a way that it can be extended at a later stage, as finance allows. These are 2 badly needed facilities for our children and youngsters, and a big well done is extended to the committees involved.
