Tubbercurry and District Active Retired

Tubbercurry ARA will resume meetings after the Easter break with a celebration of Bealtaine (Mayday) on May 2nd at 8 pm in the Health Centre.  Well-known actress Beezie will present a one-woman show ,”Beezie”, a sparkling portrayal of the life of Beezie Gallagher, for over 60 years the sole resident of an island on Lough Gill.  Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to what promises to be a very enjoyable evening.    The bus tour of Northern Ireland at the end of May is completely booked.   On May 9th there will an ‘ Alzheimenr’s Tea Night’ and among the activities for June will be a day tour to Strokestown House.

Exploring New Opportunities

Covering various different topics, a Personal Development training course is set to take place at the Enterprise Centre, Tubbercurry on Mon 8th, Tues 9th and Mon 15th May from 10am – 1pm. Topics covered will include: Building confidence and Self Esteem, Dealing with stress, Communication and Assertiveness Skills, Identifying Strengths, Setting Goals, Relaxation exercise. Banada Abbey Senior Football Team Function

Twenty Five Years ago, on 3rd May 1992, Banada Abbey Secondary School Senior Football Team won the All-Ireland Colleges “B” Title when they defeated Edenderry (Offaly) in a replay match in Hyde Park Roscommon.

A function is being organized to celebrate and relive some of the great moments of this magnificent achievement. It will be held in the Yeats County Hotel, Curry on Saturday 3rd June commencing at 8.00pm. A full Buffet meal will be served at 9.00pm sharp and the cost of tickets is €20. Numbers are limited and therefore those wishing to attend the event should contact any of the following as soon as possible but not later than Friday 19th May. Monthly Comhaltas Session

The monthly Comhaltas session   will take place in Nathy Brennan’s on Friday night 5th May.  Junior session starts at 9pm and senior session at 10,00pm. All musicians very welcome.

The launch of the county Fleadh will be held on Friday May 12th at 8 pm in the Yeats Memorial Building Sligo. Beidh fáilte roimh cách.

Tubbercurry Women’s Group

Looking for some crafty time? Why not come and join the Tubbercurry Women’s Group. We meet every Wednesday from 5.30pm until 8.30pm at the community room at the Tubbercurry library. We’ll be delighted to see you.

“FREE DIGITIAL SKILLS TRAINING for CITIZENS”

Free Digital Skills Training for Citizens will be held in St Attracta’s Community School, Tubbercurry starting Tuesday 25th April. This programme is funded by the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment. The course is aimed at members of farming families and will cover digital skills and agfood.ie training for beginners. The course aims to give people the confidence, motivation and skills to take their first steps online and provide training in basic internet skills. The Digital Skills for Citizens Scheme is designed to provide citizens who have never used the internet with the confidence, motivation and skills to reap the benefits of participating in today’s digital world. North West Hospice Concert

International singing sensations The Willoughby Brothers will take to the stage of The Sligo Park Hotel on Friday May 5th all in aid of North West Hospice. This will be a night to remember and tickets sales are going fast so don’t miss out. Sligo Cancer Support Centre

There is a facilitated Cancer Support Group on the First Wednesday of every month 8-10pm at 53 Ard Aisling, Tubbercurry, and a facilitated Bereavement Support Group (for anyone who has lost an immediate family member to cancer) on the last Tuesday of every month

8-10pm in the Centre. The Centre relies totally on the generosity of everyone who continues to organise fundraising events and those who give donations. We are eternally grateful and never cease to be amazed at how this selfless generosity continues throughout these difficult trying times. This Centre is not about cancer….it is about Recovery.

Looking to get Fit

Trish-Fit Classes provide a low-impact work-out with modifications to suit everyone. This is a great way to get in a heart-pumping work-out tapping into your fat burning zone whilst reducing the risk of injury. It’s ideal for people who want to get fit, are recovering from an injury, post pregnancy etc. and suits young and old.

Classes are weekly in the Weightloss and Wellness Centre, Tubbercurry on Wednesdays from 7-8pm and a new class on Mondays in St. Brigid’s Hall from May 1st from 7-8pm. Contact Trish on 087-7713031 for further details.

Cloonacool Church Renovation Fundraisers

A table quiz in aid of Cloonacool Church Renovation Fund will be held in Brennan’s Lounge Cloonacool on Friday night 12th May with four per table. All townlands are asked to provide a team on the night and your support would be very much appreciated.

A clothes collection will be held on Saturday 27th of May next with all proceeds going to Cloonacool Church Renovation fund. All support for this fund raising drive will be accepted with grateful thanks.

Cloonacool Card Game

Cloonacool Card Game has changed to 9pm each Monday evening in Cloonacool Community Centre. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served.
