Oliver (Ollie ) Wynne, Achonry The recent death occurred of Ollie Wynne, Achonry. Ollie had just turned 70 years, but was always young at heart. After attending Primary School in Achonry, he then attended Tubbercurry Vocational School, playing in goals for the School Team on their way to winning the County Championship. He graduated from there in the mid 1960’s and took up bar work, working for many years in Murphy’s Moyadda Bar. Always a great conversationalist with a broad knowledge of many subjects, he regularly threw in ‘ok alright’ to his sentences while gathering his thoughts. He was affectionally known to many friends as ‘ok alright Ollie’. As well as bar work, he was a great neighbour and was always willing to help farmers with seasonal work of hay, silage, bog work or fencing. His needs were few and he never argued. In later years he worked in the Mullinabreena Parish on various local schemes and his expertise was appreciated by younger work mates. He loved walking and he would regularly walk to Tubbercurry on the back roads for his exercise. He had a great interest in Gaelic football and was a loyal supporter of Mullinabreena and Tubbercurry teams over the years. Over the last few years his health failed but he never complained and bore his illness with great dignity. Ollies remains reposed at the Morahan Funeral Home prior to removal to the Church of St. Nathys & St. Bridget, Achonry for Mass of the Resurrection. Burial took place in Achonry Cemetary. He is survived by brothers Seamus, Roger & Stephen, sister Lily Faye , inlaws, nieces, nephews, relatives & friends, all to whom sympathy is extended. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
