Louise Kilbane, President of Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce:
“As you may have heard Tubbercurry has won the Sligo section of Pride of Place Awards, we were selected by Sligo County Council for our continuous efforts in fighting back and bringing our wonderful town back to its former glory and striving to bring the town to be a great place both to live, work and visit. Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce are the lead group on the project and with our winnings we were able to fund a short 90 second promotional video of Tubbercurry which can be used to promote the town. We have now been selected to go on and represent Sligo in the National Awards of Pride of Place, but we need your help and the help of your group to showcase our town at its best. The judging takes place next Monday the 8th of August at 9.30 am till 12.30pm, we will be showcasing our town at it best and how we have come together as a community to regenerate and revive our town, all in a voluntary and community effort. We will be competing against other towns from around the country in the category of 1000-2000 population. We really need and want your support I am hoping that on this day we will be able to bring the judges around the town to showcase the town with a meet and great session taking place in the square in the marquee. It is important that as many of us are there as possible of the day to show the judges we are worthy of the top prize.”
The winner will be announced in November 2016.
