Phoenix Players

The AGM of the Phoenix Players was held in St Brigid’s Hall on Thursday 7th June. The following officers were elected for the coming season: Chairman, Eamonn Gallagher; Vice Chairman, Catriona Coleman; Secretary, Mary Mannion; Treasurer, Mark Dunne; PRO, Tom Walsh.

In his annual chairman’s report Eamonn Gallagher thanked the director, cast and crew for their trojan work in presenting this season’s production of Buried Child. In particular he congratulated Peter Davey, Pat Feely, Frank Brennan, Claire McLoughlin, Peter Molloy, Fionn Feely, Rueben Cummins and Caoimhe Gallagher, all of whom won individual awards on the Festival Circuit. Plans for next season were discussed at length. It is hoped to stage a three act comedy for Christmas and a musical The Sound of Music in March-April 2019.

The recent very successful GAA OSKARS evening threw up a myriad of talent from round the town, a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed by talent scouts within the Phoenix. High ranking officials from both Tubbercurry GAA and the Phoenix Players are currently in back room discussions with a view to negotiating as many star player transfers as possible.
