Cloonacool Church Renovation Fundraisers

A table quiz in aid of Cloonacool Church Renovation Fund will be held in Brennan’s Lounge Cloonacool on Friday night 12th May with four per table.All townlands are asked to provide a team on the night and your support would be very much appreciated.

A clothes collection will be held on Saturday 27th of May next with all proceeds going to Cloonacool Church Renovation fund. All support for this fund raising drive will be accepted with grateful thanks.

All Ireland Drama Finals

The All Ireland Drama Festival continues nightly in St Brigid’s Hall Theatre at 8pm except closing night 29th April with curtains up at 7pm. Full details and synopsis of the nine plays taking part, and the night they will be performing is available on website. www.westerndramafestival.com.

Sport Ireland – Yeats Tour of Sligo

Volunteers wanted for this year’s Yeats Tour of Sligo Cycle taking place on Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th April 2017. As much support as possible is needed in order to make the event happen. Tubbercurry and District Active Retired

Tubbercurry ARA will resume meetings after the Easter break with a celebration of Bealtaine (Mayday) on May 2nd at 8 pm in the Health Centre.  Well-known actress Beezie will present a one-woman show ,”Beezie”, a sparkling portrayal of the life of Beezie Gallagher, for over 60 years the sole resident of an island on Lough Gill.  Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to what promises to be a very enjoyable evening.    The bus tour of Northern Ireland at the end of May is completely booked.   On May 9th there will an ‘ Alzheimenr’s Tea Night’ and among the activities for June will be a day tour to Strokestown House.

South Sligo Snaps

A photographic Exhibition on “Youth in our Community” hosted by Foroige Youth Club, Tubbercurry, and facilitated by Community Artist, Monica Grossman takes place in Tubbercurry Library, Humbert Street, from 22nd April, at 12pm. Open to the public, this exhibition will run indefinitely.

Sligo Cancer Support Centre

There is a facilitated Cancer Support Group on the First Wednesday of every month 8-10pm at 53 Ard Aisling, Tubbercurry, and a facilitated Bereavement Support Group (for anyone who has lost an immediate family member to cancer) on the last Tuesday of every month 8-10pm in the Centre. The Centre relies totally on the generosity of everyone who continues to organise fundraising events and those who give donations. We are eternally grateful and never cease to be amazed at how this selfless generosity continues throughout these difficult trying times. This Centre is not about cancer….it is about Recovery.

Looking to get Fit

Trish-Fit Classes provide a low-impact work-out with modifications to suit everyone. This is a great way to get in a heart-pumping work-out tapping into your fat burning zone whilst reducing the risk of injury. It’s ideal for people who want to get fit, are recovering from an injury, post pregnancy etc. and suits young and old.

Classes are weekly in the Weightloss and Wellness Centre, Tubbercurry on Wednesdays from 7-8pm and a new class on Mondays in St. Brigid’s Hall from May 1st from 7-8pm. Contact Trish on 087-7713031 for further details.
