Parking at Pedestrian Crossing

Parking at the Pedestrian Crossing continues to be a problem for pedestrians at Teeling Street, Tubbercurry.  Double yellow lines extend in both directions for 15 metres from the crossing to allow clear visibility of the crossing.  However, inconsiderate drivers continue to park close to, and even in some cases, on the crossing as they abandon cars and hop into shops.  This has resulted in many near misses as drivers coming down the street cannot see pedestrians beginning to start crossing.  One lady was injured recently by a speeding motorist. Gardaí regularly issue summons without tickets and people that parked illegally weeks previously suddenly receive fines in the post for parking offences committed weeks previously. The Active Retirement group and other locals encourage the Gardaí to issue these summonses for safety sake.  Please note this the next time you are parking on Teeling Street
