CSO figures confirm weaker picture Today’s figures from the CSO confirm that we welcomed almost 8.4 million overseas tourists to Ireland during January-September 2019 – up +1% on the same period in 2018. Revenue from overseas tourists in the same period was almost €4.1 billion – this was flat on 2018. The figures confirm that 2019 has been a very mixed experience for Irish tourism.

Last week, we launched our new three year-strategy for 2020-2022 and our marketing plans to promote the island of Ireland overseas next year. The aim, given a fair wind, is to grow overseas tourism revenue to €6.54 billion (+13%) and visitor numbers to 12 million (+7%), by 2022.
